Takashi Murakami articulated Superflat in a 2000 manifesto and exhibition, using visual flatness to connect Japanese art history, manga, anime, consumer culture, and the collapse of “high” and “low” categories. Superflat Pop names the style’s especially commercial, character-driven expansion through fashion, animation, motion graphics, and products; it should remain connected to Murakami’s critical theory, not reduced to colorful cartoon flatness.

Design principles and implementation

Use these principles to write a focused AI UI design prompt instead of asking for a vague visual treatment.

Color direction

Use bright candy pink, red, yellow, cyan, green, and purple with clean black or colored outlines and little atmospheric shading. In a daisyUI theme, use candy pink or red for `primary`, cyan or yellow for `secondary`, and set `base-100`, `base-200`, and `base-300` to clean white, a pale candy tint, and light cool gray.
